So far I've tried:
Re-installing the correct driver (From Geforce.com)
Increasing the TdrDelay time
Setting my power options (in windows 7) to high performance
Despite this, my GPU, which is about as old as my Grandad's socks, the Geforce GTS 250 doesn't seem to like some games and apps, namely StareMade (like minecraft, runs on java) and photoshop.
I don't only get this message though. Occasionally, even when I'm just browsing the web, after getting the message my screen bugs out and turns into a Jackson Pollock rendition of whatever is supposed to be there.
I suspect the card might just be getting old, and dying, but I really really hope not because me being able to afford another card is like Leo being able to win an Oscar (i.e: it'll probably take 22 years)
System as it is:
Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core i5 2300
4x2gb DDR3 RAM @668
Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 (Gainward)
128 boot SSD
Enough HDD space to store anyone's p*rn collection
Thanks in advance. Have a nice day.
Nvidia Opengl Driver Error
This page provides links to both general release drivers that support OpenGL 4.6, and developer beta drivers that support upcoming OpenGL features.
Release Driver Downloads
OpenGL 4.6 support is available for Windows and Linux in our general release drivers available here:
OpenGL 4.6 is the latest version of the Khronos OpenGL royalty-free open standard 3D graphics API, released on July 31st, 2017. On that day NVIDIA provided beta display drivers with full OpenGL. First time, I start up a single-player game, and launch an attack withs some tanks. They destroy a couple of buildings, then, when they get attacked by some planes, I get this error: The NVIDIA OpenGL driver detected a problem with the display driver and is unable to continue. The application must close. It made the game not respond then crash =. I’m working on an animation and have been using Cycles and GPU rendering, I have a GTX 550Ti and the latest drivers. I have been getting this error: “The Nvidia OpenGL driver detected a problem with the display driver and is unable to continue. The application must close.”. That will save you a bunch of headaches when a driver has bugs like the most recent nVidia driver seems to have with OpenGL. It also means you won't be upgrading drivers every time nVidia or ATI publishes one (sometimes as often as weekly). I'm using a driver that is about a year old (nVidia 258.96).
Nvidia Opengl Driver Error Code 3 (subcode 2)
Jul 07, 2015 The NVIDIA OpenGL driver detected a problem with the display driver and is unable to continue. Open your NVIDIA Control Panel and select “Manage 3D settings”. Then, select the “Power Management mode” and change the option from “Adaptive” to “Prefer maximum performance”.
Windows
Actually, sounds like the gpu just died. An application won't just suddenly need a driver update because of a date on a calender.
Linux
Developer Beta Driver Downloads
Windows driver version 426.02 and Linux driver version 418.52.18 provide new features for OpenGL developers to test their upcoming OpenGL applications.
